Feb. 27 @ 6:00-8:30pm UHM ART Auditorium a multi-media collaboration between Koa Gallery, KCC and the Art Gallery, UHM Expanding on the concerns of Inundation, and a concurrent exhibition, Between Words, at Koa Gallery, Kapioʻolani Community College, this evening of constructive interference takes up art, media and climate change in the Pacific by bringing together two images by Monte Costa and Janetta Napp, the feature-length documentary Moananuiākea: One Ocean, One People, One Canoe (2018), a visualization of global weather conditions via https://earth.nullschool.net/, and sounds gathered at dusk on the Waikīkī shoreline. more about Between Words: Monte Costa and Janetta Napp Koa Gallery, Kapiʻolani Community College January 24 - February 29, 2020 Opening Reception: Friday, January 24 | 5 - 8PM Monte Costa’s black and white photographs and Janetta Napp’s charcoal drawings accentuate their overlapping fascination for depicting movement—fleeting forces are rendered as enduring moments. An outcome of a longtime friendship, Between Words is the first occasion that Costa and Napp have exhibited together. |
