Interference Patterns
Feb. 27 @ 6:00-8:30pm
UHM ART Auditorium

a multi-media collaboration between Koa Gallery, KCC and the Art Gallery, UHM

Expanding on the concerns of Inundation, and a concurrent exhibition, Between Words, at Koa Gallery, Kapioʻolani Community College, this evening of constructive interference takes up art, media and climate change in the Pacific by bringing together two images by Monte Costa and Janetta Napp, the feature-length documentary Moananuiākea: One Ocean, One People, One Canoe (2018), a visualization of global weather conditions via https://earth.nullschool.net/, and sounds gathered at dusk on the Waikīkī shoreline.

more about Between Words: Monte Costa and Janetta Napp
Koa Gallery, Kapiʻolani Community College
January 24 - February 29, 2020
Opening Reception: Friday, January 24 | 5 - 8PM

Monte Costa’s black and white photographs and Janetta Napp’s charcoal drawings accentuate their overlapping fascination for depicting movement—fleeting forces are rendered as enduring moments. An outcome of a longtime friendship, Between Words is the first occasion that Costa and Napp have exhibited together.
